On November 20, 2018, the NRC issued a Notice of Violation to Curators of the University of Missouri for a Severity Level III violation. The violation involved the licensee's failure to secure radioactive materials from unauthorized removal or access as required by Title 10 of the CFR 20.1801. Specifically, on May 11, 2017, a licensee's technologist unknowingly left the radiation waste room door open and the licensed material was unsecured for about 30 minutes and on May 14, 2018, the nuclear medicine hot lab door was left propped open and the licensed material was left unsecured for few minutes.
